Hamilton girls' field lacrosse season is here. Read below to find out what is happening right now.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN - SIGN UP NOW

Teams are being firmed up now and we still have a few spots in U11. Please be sure to email to see if we have room before you sign up. hla.jmoore@gmail.com

IMMEDIATE: A first practice for all teams is happening this Saturday, April 6 from 12:45 to 2 p.m. at Wentworth Sports Complex, 2100 Main Street West. COME OUT and email your coach if you cannot make it.  - complete

The 2024 summer!

HLA offers a skills program for beginner girls age four to nine.  This program will run Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. starting in May. Any new player registration in this age group gets a free beginner stick at the first session.  Registration is open until May for the U9 skills.

PRACTICE AND GAME DAY INFORMATION: 

(Coaches may change or update your team sked - use this as a guideline only).

OUTDOOR TURF (April 20-May 18) Saturdays and Sundays. Heritage Green, 355 First Rd. W., Stoney Creek.

  • U15 and U19 - Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (share field)
  • U11 - Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (full field) If one of the other teams wants to add in a practice, just let U11s know they will need to share that day. Please use this time we paid premium for it.

OUTDOOR GRASS (May 23 to end of season) Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mohawk Sports Park fields 4 and 5. Off Upper Kenilworth, midway between Mohawk and Limeridge roads.

Tuesdays:

  • 6-7 pm - Baby  Bengals (field 5)
  • 6-7:30 pm - U11 (field 5)
  • 6-8 pm - U19 (field 4)
  • 7-9 pm - U15 (field 5)

Thursdays:

  • 6-7:30 pm - U11 (field 5)
  • 7-9 pm - U15 (field 4)
  • 6-8 pm - U19 (field 5)

Early bird fees end Feb. 29. Regular rates apply March 1 to 15. Late registration is after that. Remember, we must know in March who is playing. See below for fees.

Effective March 1, 2024, the OLA has instituted a mandatory protective eyewear (goggle) policy for all OWFL-sanctioned programming. Read the policy here

WINTER SKILLS CLINIC - complete

New and returning players are welcome to join the skills clinic to warm up your stick for the fast approaching season. Clinic is set for Saturdays, 12:45 to 2 p.m., on Feb. 3, 10, 24, March 2, 16 and 23. Please register for the clinic (girls field Try-Lacrosse) and email hla.jmoore@gmail.com the payment or to ask about payment information.  Cost is $60 for all sessions paid by the start of your first session, or a $15 per session drop in fee. 

This clinic is at Wentworth Sports Complex, 2100 Main St. W., Hamilton.

Complete - Returning players, don't forget to come to the free run on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 12:45 to 2 p.m. at Wentworth Sports Complex, 2100 Main St. W. Get your stick in your hand and come out if you can. You only need to be registered for the 2024 season or to the girls' try-lacrosse. (This is mandatory for insurance purposes).

Complete - A FREE Try-Lacrosse event is planned for girls field on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Wentworth Sports Complex. Never tried girls field lacrosse? Want to know more about how to play, where we play and why we play? Register for girls field try-lacrosse and find out what's in it for you. This session is open to all girls ages 4 to 14. You may have already seen the other HLA Try-Lacrosse session, you can attend that instead if you wish. Our session will be girls field only. No helmet required, we have sticks for you to borrow. Wear gym clothes and a mouth guard if you have one. 

This session is also at Wentworth Sports Complex.

BR student receives Field Lacrosse scholarship

A Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School student has snagged a field lacrosse scholarship to Ohio’s Ursuline College. Starting next season Kaelin Haire, 18, will be competing at the NCAA Division II level for the Ursuline Arrows.

JEWL games schedule to follow.  Hamilton U19 players are able to tryout for the OWFL JEWL Select team available to clubs who are not playing JEWL. More to come. Tryouts are late April/early May, be registered, be ready.

-Any U9 players who qualify for a stick, you will get it at the first Baby Bengals session in May along with your pinnie.

** We are again offering the Baby Bengal program for girls ages 4 to 9 who would like a one day a week skills program to introduce parents and players to the game of Women's Field Lacrosse. Email hla.jmoore@gmail.com

If you are new, please be encouraged to give Bengal lacrosse a try.

BENGALS TEAM PRACTICES START in April.  We are running a Skills clinic for new and returning players on Saturdays, 12:45 to 2 p.m. at Wentworth Sports Complex. This 6 week program starts Saturday, Feb. 3. Price for the clinic is $60 for all sessions (paid by first attendance), or $15 per session drop in fee. *(Weather cancellations will not be made up).
