Why girls should play lacrosse

Lacrosse is all about speed, skill and strategy. Whether you're a natural athlete or just looking for a fun way to stay active, lacrosse is the perfect sport to challenge yourself and shine. From the first practice to your first goal, you'll be surrounded by girls who push you to be your best.

Hamilton girls' field lacrosse season is here. Read below to find out what is happening right now. Then sign up! We'd love to meet you.

If you've never played before and missed our girls' field try lacrosse event in February, you can join us on March 8 at our first season 'run' for all registered players. Details below *

REGISTRATION IS OPEN - SIGN UP NOW. 

Spots are open in U9, U11, U13, U15 and U19 Bengals - these teams will see two practices per week with games at OWFL host sites from May to end of July. Bengal practices start in April.

And, our Hamilton house league will once again be an introductory skills program for new and returning players running mid-May to mid-July. The house league skills will run on Tuesday evenings at Mohawk Sports Park.  

* UPCOMING EVENTS:

1. U19 tryout is March 1, 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Players Paradise. You must be registered to try out.
2. (Sorry,  our March 15  event is cancelled due to Eastwood Arena closure  for roof repairs).
3.  All player 'run'. This means you. All players (and those who missed the try-lacrosse event - just email hla.jmoore@gmail.com to let them know you are attending) are asked to come out for some skills and drills on Saturdays, March 8 and 15, at Eastwood Arena, 111 Burlington St. E., Hamilton.

• Try lacrosse and all U9, U11  and U13 players -  2 to 3 p.m.
• U15 and U19 - 3 to 4:30 p.m.

The 2025 summer!

HLA offers a skills program for beginner girls age five to nine.  This program will run eight weeks on Tuesdays from 6 -7 p.m. starting in May. Once registered, you will received an email about start of season.

Registration is open until May for the U9 skills program.

OUTDOOR TURF (April 19-May 18) Saturdays and Sundays. Heritage Green, 355 First Rd. W., Stoney Creek.

• U15 and U19 - Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (share field)
• U13 and U11 - Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (share field) 

OUTDOOR GRASS

(May 20 to end of season) Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mohawk Sports Park fields 4 and 5. Off Upper Kenilworth, midway between Mohawk and Limeridge roads.

• U9 Games - Sundays
• U11 Games - Sundays
• U13 Games - Sundays

​Please note that midweek exhibition games may also be scheduled at the discretion of the clubs at all levels. 

 2025 HLA registration fees: 

Early bird fees end Feb. 28. Regular rates apply March 1 to 12. Late registration is after that. Remember, we must know in March who is playing. See below for fees.

TRY-LACROSSSE SESSIONS 

We are joining all HLA try-lacrosse sessions and will have coaches/players present for skill and questions. If you are new please try to come to a session. Dates are:  Feb. 1 (now full), March 2, and March 30. Please register here. Registration is required. Girls field try-lacrosse players can register here as well. 

Note: girls field lacrosse is different from the HLA box lacrosse program including things like equipment, playing surface and rules.

WINTER SKILLS CLINIC 

Sorry, due to the loss of field time at Wentworth Sports this winter we were unable to find a regular scheduled venue for the winter clinic. We hope these sessions will be back in 2026 for all new and returning players.

Uniform fittings for all players will be the first week of April.

All rep "Bengal" players will need to get sized for their uniform. If you do not go to size your uniform and pick your jersey number one will be picked for you. Keep in mind sizing is important and yes, our uniform is changing this season.
